The Great Wall Cup is an international youth football tournament organized by the Beijing Football Association, in association with China Sports Tour.
The inaugural tournament took place at Bird’s Nest National Stadium in 2010, with 14 competing teams from 6 different countries across the world (China, South Korea, North Korea, Australia, United States, and Italy). The tournament is not simply about the beautiful game, it is also a unique experience for players to experience China. Playing against opponents from across the globe, players can attend cultural events, learn basic Chinese and kung fu, as well as visit the Great Wall, and other Chinese landmarks.
Organizers of the Great Wall Cup hope to be a leader in international youth football tournaments around Asia within the next five to ten years. Think FIFA for teens – this could be the next big thing people! For now, their program is supported by working in partnership with international professional associations and clubs to offer teams abroad an opportunity to participate in the tournament.
This year’s second annual Great Wall Cup will take place on July 17-23 2011. Participating team information will be available online soon.
12, 14, 15 and 18 year old age slots are still OPEN for REGISTRATION. This Friday July 1st is the last day for teams to register.
