There are a couple of options for getting rid of your big things. Host a moving sale, invite friends and make a day of it! Or, advertise online on the beijingkids’ or The Beijinger’s classifieds. Roundabout Charity Store and Freecycle Beijing are good places to pass on your large items as well.
Otherwise, you can actually hire one of the locals to take it off your hands and onto the back of their bikes. They’ll even pay you for your old appliances and furniture. To go about this, ask around your compound for a man with a bike trailer. They can also move furniture for you. This will cost you, but you can negotiate a fair price. Alternatively, find out whether your ayi needs, or knows someone who needs, some furniture.
