Summer heat getting you down? Take some time away from stress and bring your kids to Rylinwon Resort & Spa, a five-star hot springs hotel and all-in-one getaway nestled in the suburbs of Beijing.
Located in Shunyi, this resort is a popular destination for business conferences and happy families alike. Hot springs may not sound like the first choice for kids bursting with energy, but there’s more to do here than the name implies. While the rooms are spacious and luxurious, the vast, lush greenery surrounding the hotel makes it a perfect spot for outdoor activities—all of which are offered for free to hotel residents. Younger kids will love the tandem bikes and open lawns, while older kids will have a blast with archery and go-karts. (Keep in mind, though, that safety standards for the go-karts in China are not quite up to American standards!)
Once you’ve tired of the outdoors, head inside for more entertainment options. The bottom floor offers a rec room with ping-pong and other sports for the kids, as well as Thai massages and other spa treatments for adults. The latter can get a bit pricey at several hundred RMB, but when you’re here to be pampered it’s to be expected!
Once dinnertime rolls around, Rylinwon has enough options for even the pickiest of eaters. The restaurants in the hotel offer a respectable variety of cuisines, including a Western café, a classy Thai eatery, a traditional Chinese restaurant and by far the most eye-catching of choices, an outdoor barbeque (烧烤) restaurant looking out on the waterfall. Kids will love sipping the fresh juices and watching the flashing colors of koi while watching the barbeque chefs work their magic.
Of course, the hotel’s namesake is not to be forgotten. The hot springs themselves, while pricey—entrance is RMB 368 per head, though kids below 1.2m get free entrance and kids 1.2-1.4m get a reduced fee—are well worth the investment, so grab your bathing suits and head on in; The hotel even sells bathing suits if bringing one slipped your mind. A dazzling variety of pools, both indoors and outdoors, offer different temperatures and types of hot springs magic. A spacious pool with rubber balls and two basketball hoops may be of particular interest to younger kids, while older kids may enjoy the full-size swimming pool in the outdoors area. The whole area is gorgeous and lush, and sure to delight visitors of all ages.
So, if you’re looking for a getaway from the rough and tumble of everyday Beijing, keep Rylinwon in mind. You won’t be disappointed.
