*Radiance hosts its annual Charity Bazaar today, September 14 from noon-8pm. More than 40 vendors will sell their products with discounts, and all proceeds from table fees and raffle tickets will go directly to charity.Call 8049 6400 for more information.
*INN will host its Shunyi coffee morning at Mrs. Shanen’s on Thursday, September 15 from 10am-noon. Come as you are and when you can to meet others and talk about things going on in our neighborhood. All welcome!
*It’s time again to stock up on books at the Roundabout Book Fair, Saturday, September 17 from 10am-3pm at the British School of Beijing. This promises to be their largest book fair to date, with thousands of selections for both children and adults. Paperbacks cost RMB 10, hardcovers cost RMB 20, some children’s books only RMB 1 and coffee table books at a slightly higher price. If you cannot come that day, BSB has agreed to continue selling books until Friday, October 14 during school hours (9am-3:30pm). ALL proceeds go directly to helping others in the community. Book donations are continually accepted, so please clear out your bookshelves.
*Planning ahead for October break, if your kids are going to be around consider week long programs at The Learning Center. Students from grades 3-8 can participate in programs such as How to Write a Great Ghost Story, Journalism, and Folklore from the Far East. Full and half days are available from October 3-7. *Also by Beijing United Family Hospital, come to the BSB Coffee Morning at the Shunyi Secondary Library. On Tuesday, September 20 from 11am-noon, get great information about “Adjusting to Life in China” by Dr. Rob Blinn. Learn about culture shock and coping strategies, and afterwards enjoy a lunch at Tasty’s.
*Tai Tai at Chen Hao furniture will be hosting a bazaar on Thursday, September 22 from 10am-4pm. They’ll feature new vendors in their store, and there will be great discounts on furniture at Chen Hao.
*For the biggest gem sale of the year, don’t miss Clicia’s Designs and Shayne’s Treasures on September 26 and 27. *If you haven’t been to The Filling Station near WAB yet, maybe this will encourage you to give them a try. Every Monday night is BFF Night – “Burger for Free” – meaning buy one and get the second free from 3pm on. Wednesday nights feature KFF, or Kids for Free (one child per adult). Thursday night features a Ladies Set Menu, with tables of four receiving a free bottle of bubbles. The restaurant is open daily from 11am-9:30pm.
*With many volunteer having moved away this summer, Roundabout is looking for some new good people to fill several positions. Do you have a creative or artistic flair? Maybe you should be the Window Display Designer or the Visual Merchandising Assistant. Store Assistants are always welcome, too, and a Volunteer Coordinator would be great. *Also seeking help is The Learning Center in Gahood Villas. Due to a rapidly growing facility, they are seeking full and part time staff for a range of subjects. The hours are 4-8pm on weekdays and 9am-4:30pm on weekends. TLC provides tutoring and small group workshops, and only accepts teachers and tutors with solid backgrounds and excellent references.
