As part of their Parenting Speaker Series, the Ivy Schools group has invited American parenting expert Dr Norma Leben to give a seminar from 6.30-8.30pm at the Yu Yang Hotel on October 13 (English session) and October 15 (Chinese session).
According to her website, the Hong Kong-born Dr Leben is a "licensed clinical social worker supervisor (LCSW-S) and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S) and Certified Play Therapist, Professor Status (CPT)" who specializes in "therapy activites for children with ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, or traumatized by sexual abuse." She has also "created videos and books about childrens games, directive treatment methods, and effective parenting in English and Chinese" and founded the Morning Glory Treatment Center for Children in Texas in 1987.
For this seminar, Dr Leben will focus on "Understanding Developmental Stages: Keys to Building a Solid Foundation For Your Child"to help parents better manage good behavior in their children through a system of "structure, routines, schedules, chores, rewards, and logical consequences."
