It’s going to be a great Halloween in Beijing for kids and family this year as there’s more child-friendly events than ever! At last count we’ve found and listed 19 different events in our online events calendar for children and their parents; no doubt that you will find something to do.
Here’s a few highlights of our list so far:
1. beijingkids’ Halloween Costume Brunch Ball
(Sat [Shunyi] & Sun [Wangfujing] | 0-12 years old) beijingkids’ very own annual fest (Saturday at the Hilton Capital Airport (seats still available) and Sunday at the Hilton Wangfujing (sold out). We like to think of this as the ultimate celebration — we’ll have over 200 people at each location celebrating the holiday in true family-friendly style. Details here
2. Muffy’s Wangjing Parkside Halloween Party
(Sun | Wangjing | Toddlers)
Check out the fantastic new facilities of Muffy’s Education in Wangfujing while celebrating "Plants vs Zombies" style. Details here.
3. Halloween at A-Z Kids
(Sat & Sun | Shunyi | 0-12 years old) A-Z Kids, the indoor play paradise known and loved by many an excited child and their satisfied parents, will be hosting 2 days of fun that include costume contests, prizes and the like. Details here.
4. Roald Dahl’s Revolting Recipes Dinner
(Mon | Shuangjing | All ages) The crown jewel of Shuangjing — the Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel — will be hosting one of the most creative Halloween dinners I’ve heard of, at an amazing price (RMB 134 net, with kids half price). On the menu: ‘Hansel & Gretel spare ribs’ … ‘Fresh Mud burgers’ … ‘Mosquito toes’ … and more! More details here
5.Mexican Day of the Dead Altar
(Mon-Fri | Sanlitun | All Ages) Check out what Mexico celebrates around this time of the year — not Halloween but the Day of the Dead! It’s a day "not so much for mourning but for celebration and for taking death in stride with humor and irony." The Mexican embassy has a display where families can learn about this important tradition. Details here.
6. Family Box 2011 The Adventure Night of Halloween
(Sun & Mon | Wangjing | 3-6 years old) There will be costumes, pumpkins, magic and more at play center Family Box’s Halloween festival. More details here.
7. Spooky Bubbalicious
(Sun | Lufthansa Area | All ages) Enjoy the Westin’s first-class buffet kitted out for Halloween and with a special "Plants vs Zombies" game put together by the Pop Dino Kids Club at 1pm. More details here
8. River Garden’s Haunted House
(Sat | Shunyi | All ages) Possibly Shunyi’s most elaborate Halloween celebrations, River Garden will have a full-fledged haunted house with time slots for little ones (read: not so scary) to teens (read: terrifying). There will also be door-to-door trick-or-treating and more. For more details, see here
9. Beijing Mama Halloween Party
(Sat | Zhongguancun | All ages) Chinese parenting website bjmama.com holds a Haidian based affair with costume contest and more for those northwesterly residents that don’t want to hike across town with the little ones to celebrate. For more information, please see here.
10. Ivy School Halloween Party & Open Day
(Sun | Lufthansa Area | 0-6 years old) Ivy Schools will have face painting, pumpkin carving a costume parade and more at their Ocean Express campus. A great time for parents looking for a kindergarten to give the place a test run. More details here.
