KinStar Has a New Look as BIBA
KinStar International Bilingual School in Shunyi has enjoyed not only a three-fold increase in its campus facilities, but also a complete change of name to Beijing International Bilingual Academy (BIBA). The newly expanded campus now houses three buildings, each dedicated to their kindergarten, elementary and middle schools respectively. International Youth Award Winners at WAB
On September 29, Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) high school students Christina Arbenz and Natasha Chang received the prestigious Gold Level International Youth Awards (IYA) at a ceremony held at the British Embassy. The first Beijing recipients of the award, Arbenz and Chang were selected based on their exemplary personal achievements in the areas of service, physical recreation, and a specific skill, in addition to completing an adventurous journey and a residential project.

ISB’s Revamps Its Language Arts Curriculum
A team of 16 enthusiastic teachers are helping the International School of Beijing’s Elementary School move towards a more integrated approach to language arts. It will emphasis teaching the purpose and structure of various types of communication. For instance, Grade 2 students learning about living things and their environment will do so through the art of explanation and persuasion.
BISS Congratulates Catherine Zhang
Beijing BISS International School would like to congratulate Catherine Zhang’s success in calligraphy. Zhang placed second in the Chinese Calligraphy Competition at Qinhuangdao, held for 600 students, ranging in age from 9 to 12.
BCIS Hosts a Visit from the United States Department of State
On September 23, Dr. Constance W. Buford, Regional Education Officer of the United States Department of State, met Beijing City International School staff, high school seniors, and several American parents. During her visit, she learned about the educational programs as they relate to the American educational philosophy and to get a sense of the educational cultures of the international schools in her region. The US Department of State maintains a list of schools on its website, state.gov/m/a/os, where parents can review the list of schools for ones they are considering or contact their office to learn more.
Saint Paul American School Welcomes A New Principal
The Saint Paul American School of Beijing is proud to announce the arrival of their new school principal, Steven Jordahl. Jordahl comes to Saint Paul with a doctorate degree from the University of Dakota and more than two decades of professional experience public schools, plus a year in the Nacel International School of Shanghai.
