Between Pinnacle Plaza and Pinnacle Avenue, there have been a lot of new openings lately! It’s nice to see fresh stores and restaurants moving into our neighborhood, and as quickly as things change around here it’ll be interesting to see what the New Year brings.
New!
*After visiting Elaine’s Vegetarian Restaurant by Roma Lake last week, they gave me a RMB 50 coupon for their “new restaurant” called Amazing over at Pinnacle Avenue. Another vegetarian option in our neighborhood might be well worth checking out, and the Pinnacle Avenue area is really starting to take shape with their stores and restaurants!
*How Bizarre! Large cranes have been in front of the extended Pinnacle Plaza area, setting up fancy outdoor design work. The sign says “Bizarre” – not sure if it’s open yet, but it appears to have plentiful large wood carvings inside. Interesting!
*TheSwanWithTwoNecks restaurant/pub looks as if it’s open beside Jenny Wang’s now (next to the new reflexology center). Their name is too long or their sign is too short, apparently. Any feedback from there yet?
Gone or Moving!
*Driving past Pinnacle Avenue a week or so ago I was disappointed to see New York Donuts gone. It was the closest thing to a donut from home that I’ve tasted here, and I’m hoping that it’s simply relocating…preferably closer to me.
*Tasty’s – the yummy café with the to-die-for cinnamon rolls – is having a “pre-moving sale” in anticipation of the destruction of the village there. All freezer-case items are 20% off from now until the end of December. Word is they are trying to relocate nearby.
Things to do!
*Friday, December 9: The Children’s Learning Center Beijing (CLCB) hosts the annual Winterfest Christmas Concert and bake sale/bazaar. Funds raised go to The Little Flower Projects Orphanage (www.littleflowerprojects.org). A “Giving Tree” will be on display with donation envelopes attached specifying what the cash will be used for. Bake sale/bazaar begins at 9am (and after concert); concert is from 9:30-11:30am. Free and open to all! Contact administration@clcbkids.com for more information.
*A-Z Kids is hosting a Christmas party for kids again this year, on December 17 and 18 from 2-5pm. Featured fun includes Santa Claus, Christmas gift bags, kids set menu, 10 free Game Zone tokens, games, crafts, face painting, cookie making and more. Call 8559 2883 to register.
*Christmas Workshop! At MAC Time, enroll your 5-12 year-old children in one of three Christmas Workshops on December 18, making Christmas dolls. Also, enjoy Christmas cookies and chocolate latte from Cold Stone! Cost is RMB 200; please enroll before December 15.
*MAC Time also has winter camps for those staying in our neighborhood over the holiday. From December 26-30, choose between two different times and enjoy the fun of making African masks, Japanese fan painting, Chinese New Year paintings and more. Aimed for children 5-12, these camps are RMB 1,350 per child. MAC Time is located on the 5th floor of Euro Plaza. Call 8046 1820 for details.
*Don’t have time to bake your own Christmas goodies this year? Boulangerie Nanda can help you out. From Pandoro to holiday cookies (gingerbread and sugar), they are taking orders two days in advance. Call 139 1127 2032 or e-mail hsiangyin.yeh@gmail.com.
