With March comes spring (hopefully) and my daughter’s birthday, so it is time to quickly organize another birthday party. This year we looked into a number of options for holding Reina’s party at a restaurant or play center, but for the herd of kids we are expecting, we decided to be old-fashioned and have the birthday party at home – in two waves. Which means, once again I have been tasked with trying to locate party decorations. In years past, I’ve gone to a variety of places for decorations and party favors and always managed to do a decent job of locating what we needed, but it always felt like a hassle and took more effort and time than it should.
This year, I decided to join the 21st century and look online first. To my pleasant surprise, I found a one-stop shop that not only has cups, plates, center pieces, balloons, and other party favors, but they even have theme-based packages for those of us who don’t want to agonize over how many forks comes in a pack and which colors of ribbon and napkins go with the characters on the table cloth. On Highparty‘s website, you can simply select the party theme column based on the following choices: male or female, 6 or 12 people, and basic or deluxe. They have the usual suspects like My Little Pony, Dora the Explorer, Thomas the Train, pirates, and lots of Disney-based characters to name a few. For those who like to make their own theme or want to add to a package deal, you can select a list of party basics with just about anything a kid could want at their birthday party, even piñatas. Deluxe packages for 12 kids range in price from RMB135-250. The website has some English, enough to make it easy to find the various items needed for a party, but the checkout system is in Chinese. The website’s items can also be purchased on Taobao.
