Parents and Chinaphiles, here’s an excuse to wear your qipao/changpao (or he-pao for the men): On April 14, the Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) will host the fourth annual Beijing in Bloom Gala, a night of tipples and fundraising. This year’s event will take place at the Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel and raise money for WAB’s China Engagement Program, as well as the school’s Miao Liang Environmental Education Center.
Here’s what’s on the slab:
- Old Peking Street Reception
- Cultural activities
- East meets West dinner
- Live and silent auction items
- Pick-a-Flower lucky draw prizes
- Entertainment by The Platter’s Donne Ray Radford and WAB musicians
- Dancing until the wee hours of the morning
Over the past three years, Beijing in Bloom has raised more than RMB 1.5 million for WAB-supported charities and green initiatives on campus. Click here to learn more about last year’s gala.
Tickets cost RMB 1,000 per person, RMB 9,500 for a table of ten, or RMB 750 per person for WAB staff. They’re available at WAB’s Parent Link shops and high school reception desk. If the shops are closed, the tickets can be picked up at the CRD office (across from the elementary school reception).
In addition, gala guests get a discounted room rate at the Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel: RMB 1,050 per night, including two buffet breakfasts at BLD Cafe. To reserve, email rhi.bjsbc.reservation@renaissancehotels.com or call 5863 8667.
Please note that the gala is for adults only.
