Recent figures from ISC Research state that in the past 10 years, the number of pupils studying at international schools across the world has increased from 1 million to just over 3 million.
This is not the only change; whereas 10 years ago, the majority of international school students were children from expat families, now 80 percent of international school students from local families.
Local families believe that “international schools are a means of advancing to further education at some of the world’s best universities”. Managing Director of ISC Research, Nicholas Brummitt, states that “The international school market has become big business” and many countries worldwide including China, Malaysia and Korea are actively encouraging this growth in demand.
