For 15 years the International School of Beijing has staged their annual Spring Fair, arguably the biggest expat school fair around. Over 5,000 people come to the ISB school grounds throughout the day to enjoy a wide variety of food, games, entertainment and more. And it’s free to the public! The forecast looks good for this rain-or-shine event on Saturday, May 12 from 10am-4pm.
The PTA sponsored event has many people behind the scenes working months in advance to make it a great day. Proceeds from game ticket sales go towards charity (last year the Earthquake Relief for Japan benefitted), and many student-led charities such as Roots & Shoots, Habitat for Humanity and Lijiang Orphanage also raise funds at the event. Held mostly outdoors, you and your family can come to enjoy:
*Games (Buy tickets at the event for 5 RMB; games are usually 1-2 tickets to play.)
*Vendors (Jewelry, art, clothing, crafts and much more – do your summer gift shopping here!)
*Arts/Crafts (See traditional Chinese crafts created before your eyes, and bring home one or two.)
*Entertainment (All throughout the day bands, singing and more are on the stage to enjoy.)
*Book Nook (Huge selection of books available for purchase; unsold books go to Roundabout.)
*Bake Sale (Large variety of scrumptious home baked goods to purchase and eat!)
*Charities (Learn how you can support a variety of charities.)
*Student-Run Groups (Help the students make an impact by supporting their cause.)
*Businesses (Get information from moving companies and other businesses in our area.)
*Raffle (Purchase 10 RMB raffle tickets for amazing prizes!)
*Tombola (Every ticket wins! Four tickets to play.)
*Food (Area restaurants bring their best dishes to serve; great time to try out new things.)
*Blood Drive (The Boy Scouts of America and Beijing United Family Hospital will have their annual drive here, so bring your passports to donate.)
There will be a free shuttle service from various compounds to the ISB school grounds throughout the day. Click here for specific time information.
Mark it on your calendar, and don’t miss the ISB Spring Fair!
