I recently enjoyed a decadent birthday lunch out, courtesy of two dear friends. How I never knew about this place in my own neighborhood is beyond me, but what a treat it was. Green T. House, near The Orchard that I often frequent, also has a city location that may be more familiar to you readers. But for those of us in the suburbs, this may be a newer indulgent treat when you want a nice place to go.
Décor and presentation alone are enough to know you’re in a special place. The pristine, modern look of the dining room is artsy, yet comfortable. While I might not want my house in the same design, visiting it is eye candy.
Teas galore fill the menu, as do cocktails and other drinks. The presentation? Exquisite! My tea came out nestled in a mountain of shaved ice to keep it cool; a friend’s coffee was tucked into what appeared to be a piece of driftwood (and that’s when we were requested to stop taking pictures).
Served family style, my friends and I were able to enjoy sampling a few different lunch dishes, from the special salad to Sichuan chicken to a vegetable medley. All were delicious, and the presentation was both unique and fascinating. It was obvious that thought has gone into not only the taste of the food, but the display as well. Their chocolate “brownie” for dessert was a heavenly soufflé, so rich that sharing was not a problem for the three of us.
It was only recently that I learned of this location, hosting a gift bazaar not long ago. Curious, I was eager to visit when my friends recommended going. I understand that spa and overnight packages are available, and I do wish I’d looked at their accommodations (although, I must say, they are way out of my price range).
Take a look at their website at www.green-t-house.com/flash.html and see for yourself. Then, when you and friends or family want to experience a truly special outing, consider the Green T. House.
