Known in Chinese as the Chaoyang Park Ocean Beach Fiesta, the man-made beach and swimming pool is opening again this summer for yet another round of summer fun. No need to escaped to Beidai He or drive three hours to see the beach, this beach is smack in the middle of the city. The beach will be open from June 16-September 3 this summer, and will be open seven days a week from 9:00 in the morning to 9:30pm. Admission from Monday to Friday is RMB 80, while admission on Saturday and Sundays is RMB 120.
There will be seal performances twice day, a playground immersed in a shallow pool for younger kids, beach volleyball, and also Brazilian song/dance performances, and other lives performances. Actual performance times will vary and the schedule has yet to be decided.
Having personally been to the Chaoyang Park beach two summers ago when it first opened in 2009, I advise families and kids to try to go there on the weekdays. On Saturday and Sundays in the afternoon, the place can be quite full with lots of people.
In comparison with the Tuanjiehu Park that we looked up last year it is much bigger and the man-made beach is much newer, despite the Tuanjiehu Park Pool’s renovations. Besides Merry Water World and other indoor locations, Chaoyang’s outdoor beach/pool beats out most inner city pools, although it is not quite the size of Crab Island’s man-made beach, but it is definitely much cleaner.
