When school’s out and the sun is high, dressing your child can be a major issue. The kids are out of uniform and out to play! It’s not only hot outside, but all the summer festivities can cause kids to become sweaty as well. We recently caught up with some of the fashionable tots and kids around Beijing at the water fountain at Sanlitun Village.
Beijing has a decent selection of places to shop for children’s clothes. Top choices include European chain stores Zara and H&M in Solana. Zara, while more expensive than H&M provides decent quality clothing for its price tag, clothing ranging from loafers for kids to leather sandals and shorts for boys and ballet flats, shoulder purses, and skirts in the newest prints for girls. H&M offers a colorful array of T-shirts, Hawaiian print swimming trunks, and baseball caps for boys, and an array of jewelry, hairclips, and dresses for girls. Solana also carries Mother Care which provides stylish and usually comfortable clothes for babies, toddlers, and kids below age 5. Beware the pajama’s at Mother Care are often uncomfortable, due to the thick sewn lining and the sewn on patterns on the pajama tops (especially if your child has sensitive skin).
In addition, Gap carries much more casual clothing than other chain store brands, and usually has better quality T-shirts. Gap stores can be found at Joy City Chaoyang and Indigo. From vintage fisherman looking T-shirt for boys to swirly print summer dresses for girls.
