It’s easy to feel a little socially unmoored when your family first arrives in Beijing. Adapting to a new culture can be a challenge, and social life undergoes considerable rejiggering, so Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS) is holding a workshop called Beijing Basics on Monday, September 3.
While the workshop is geared toward helping newcomers get their bearings, it’s also a good resource for old China hands to get new ideas and insights. The morning workshop will feature two presentations: “Cultural Adjustment for Kids” and “Fun Activities for Parents and Children in Beijing.” YCIS School Counselor Ron Drisner and Editorial Director of The beijinger and beijingkids Jerry Chan are both featured speakers at the event. The event starts at 9am and is open to the public. Admission is free, and there will be complimentary tea, coffee, and biscuits.
