Now that the dust is settling from the back to school season, it’s time to think about after-school and weekend activities. Tomorrow, September 8, marks the first day of The Learning Center’s Fall Term Horizons workshops. The Horizons workshops, which are held on the weekend and run in 5- or 12-week terms, have a maximum class size of 8 students, which maximizes student involvement. Classes emphasize problem solving, critical thinking, and social skills.
Fall Term Horizons workshops are grouped by grade. Some examples of classes offered for various levels include ABC Block Building for kindergarten; Budding Scientist for grades 1 and 2; Creative Communication, Essential Humanity – Egypt, and Super Scienist for grades 3 and 4; computer science, Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) and Master Scientist for grades 5 and 6; and SSAT upper level and middle school studies for grades 7 and 8.
