There are not many instances when I can pinpoint a moment in time that changed my life. I don’t mean in a small way, but in a “my world has been completely turned upside-down” sort of manner. For example, I remember the moment I first saw Savvy in a crowded university corridor. I didn’t know it at the time, but that moment changed the trajectory of my existence and I’m certain I would not be here in Beijing today if it wasn’t for my relationship with her.
On 30 August, another moment in time took place that transformed my life and the life of my family. On that glorious day, two little boys, each weighing about 3kg, were delivered via C-section at Beijing United Family Hospital by the steady hand of Dr. Afnan (hereby nominated for knighthood). The entire procedure only took one hour, but it is an hour that is etched into my memory and will be the point in time that my life, my world, was turned on its head again.
After nearly two weeks of being on the outside of the womb, I’m pleased to report that Bryson and Ryder, along with Savvy, Reina, and myself, are all doing fine. I’m sure the coming weeks, months, and years will reveal more moments that alter our lives. Here’s hoping those changes are always for the better.
