It feels good to make something with your own hands. In a world of mass production and mechanics, the phrase “hand made” takes on a sentimental new meaning. When city life becomes overwhelming it can be therapeutic to get a little crafty.
Your first objective is to choose your craft. There are dozens of groups with all kinds of homespun interests like knitting, pottery, and painting. The friends you make at these groups are sure to last through the years as you work together on projects and share your interests in your art. Once you know your craft, you need supplies! Shopping for art supplies can be loads of fun. Take a trip up to the Central Academy of Art and Design (6561 9594) and visit their beautifully-stocked supply store for any of your artsy needs.
There’s also Samantha Crafts for knitters/crocheters, or the art stores across from the National Museum of China. Now you are ready to create your own masterpiece!
