Primary school students at the British School of Beijing (BSB) are taking recess to the next level with their new playground equipment. On Wednesday, October 10, year 3 students donned their finest swashbuckler garb to christen the first voyage of The British Buccaneer, the pirate ship that now resides in one of the three play areas. In addition to their attire, students also whipped out their pirate vocabulary, giving a rousing “Arrrrrr!” whenever they encountered anyone in the halls.
The three play areas have all been updated with imported equipment by Scandinavian company Lappset, which specifically designs its play equipment for young learners to develop body strength and challenge their bodies and imaginations. The new equipment for the youngest students includes swings, sand boxes, and hills for running and rolling down. The largest playground has two artificial turf football pitches, easels for painting, and Wendy houses.
