If your Christmas decorations are aching to get out of the box, you know the time is nigh because it’s charity bazaar season. The Canadian International School of Beijing (CISB) heralded the season on Sunday, November 18, with its annual charity bazaar, The Gift. The Gift, which supports local charities and NGOs, lured many families for a day of delicious food, shopping, Christmas songs, and even a showing of It’s a Wonderful Life.
While plenty of parents and adults gave their wallets a work-out purchasing crafts, tea, and jewelry for charity, kids enjoyed coloring and making paper ornaments at the beijingkids craft table. Seasonal touches included poinsettias, candy canes, s’mores, and hot chocolate for sale. Live music played in the lobby for the whole day, with a special performance of Christmas carols sung by children from Bethel, an organization that supports visually impaired and blind orphans.
