There are many events around our area these days – bazaars, charity events, book fairs and more. The holidays are always quite busy, and happily so. Pick what works for your family and get out to enjoy the activities!
Events
*Roundabout’s next book fair is scheduled at the British REGO School this Saturday, November 24 from 10am-3pm. If you have book donations to offer, especially children’s books, contact Leslie at 137 1877 7761.
*The annual WAB Charity Bazaar is around the corner, too, from 10:30am-3:30pm on Saturday at the elementary school. This event is free and open to the public; babysitting is available for RMB 100 so that your children can be entertained while you shop ‘til you drop! You might need that, with 108 vendors to visit and entertainment scheduled all day long. Don’t miss this fabulous bazaar!
*In conjunction with the Tangzhou Blood Center, BJU will host a “Holiday Community Blood Drive at WAB during the bazaar. Bring a copy of your passport or Chinese I.D. – walk-ins welcome.
*Who doesn’t love emeralds, rubies and sapphires?! Coming from Southeast Asian and African sources, don’t miss the special three-day event at Shayne’s Treasures on November 27-29 from 10am-5pm where you will enjoy 50% off of the gems. Custom orders made by November 30 will be delivered by December 21 – great Christmas idea!
News
*On Tuesday – Universal Children’s Day — The British School of Beijing participated in a student-led global dance competition, Dance Unites. The competition brings together 10,000 students from across all the Nord Anglia Education family of schools. Students had nine weeks to form a dance troop, choosing their own music and choreographing an original dance, as well as creating their own outfits. This Friday, November 23 at noon, both the Sanlitun and Shunyi campuses will participate in a full scale performance of their dance routine – over 1,500 students all dancing at the same time! Congratulations!
*There’s a new restaurant to try out in the Pinnacle Plaza area – Laker’s, beside the former Eton school back by the Pinnacle courtyard area. I’m not sure when it opened up, but it looks promising – pizza, burgers, sandwiches, beer, an outside eating area when the weather gets warmer and a pub-like atmosphere. The menu is posted outside for you to give it a look!
*Uh oh, there’s another casualty in Pinnacle. The tailor shop that replaced John Tailor is gone. Now, empty space is all that’s left from that end of the shopping strip up to Johnson’s Computers. Maybe some great shops will move in there in 2013, we can all hope!
