Students at the British School of Beijing (BSB) have been busy perfecting their dance moves this past month. All that preparation was for Dance Unites, a Global Classroom project in which 10,000 students from Nord Anglia schools all over the world all danced on the same day: Tuesday, November 20. BSB students years 1-9 went in groups to places around Beijing like 798 and the silver pagodas to film parts of their dance, and then united all together on Friday, November 23, to film their dance all together on the football field at Beijing New Talent Academy.
Students congregated on a chilly but sunny afternoon to perform their dance routine all together while BSB’s videographers filmed from the roof. The footage will be edited together with the footage filmed around Beijing and will be submitted as BSB’s entry into the Global Classroom’s Dance Unites project, which is held in association with Pineapple Dance Studios in London. The students worked for nine weeks to choreograph and learn the dance steps, and they also chose their own music.
The Global Classroom project is a student-led initiative held in Nord Anglia schools worldwide to create a more collaborative learning experience. Students have a chance to interact with their counterparts all over the world and connect with a global educational community.
