Harrow International School is reaching out to the community to remind parents to continually be aware of school safety procedures after an incident on Wednesday, January 16. Harrow reports that a parent was called by someone alleging to be a member of Harrow’s staff. The person stated that the parent’s child had been hospitalized and requested that the parent immediately transfer funds to cover the hospitalization. This is not the Harrow policy; the school never requires fund to be immediately transferred for any medical reason.
This incident is an excellent reminder for all parents to review the safety procedure in place at their child’s school. Anyone who calls from the school should immediately identify themselves and be able to provide your child’s name, grade, and teacher’s name. Policies regarding medical emergencies and funds will differ from school to school, but now is the time to review them or call the school to ask if you don’t know them. If you do receive a call from the school and are uncertain, you can ask them to call back through the school switchboard, or call the school yourself and ask to speak to the teacher or nurse. Harrow parents can review the school’s policy here.
