Hailing originally from the UK, Sharon and Tim Ringrose have three children: Jack (age 9), Elodie (7), and Angus (3). Jack was born in Brunei, while Elodie and Angus were born in Perth, Australia. Sharon is the head of geography at Harrow International School Beijing (where all the kids attend school), while Tim is an executive development director at Cranfield University in the UK. He often travels between the UK, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Beijing for his job. The Ringroses moved to Beijing in August of 2012.
Family Rituals
Friday nights have become pizza night. We love going to the At Cafe at 798 Art District, but Annie’s has become a regular treat in bad weather.
Kids Beg Us to Go
Jack and Elodie love Chaoyang Park. They enjoy hiring the buggies (veering out of control down the slopes!), and going on the fairground rides.
Favorite Family Restaurant
The children love Blue Frog at Indigo Mall.
Best Place to Play Indoors
The kids love to play at Fundazzle. A couple of hours is enough to tire them out.
Favorite Day Trip
Tim and Jack discovered skiing at Nanshan Ski Village. After one successful day trip, they were eager to plan an overnight trip there.
New Hangouts
The best coffee and cakes can be found at Comptoirs de France; Elodie loves their hot chocolate.
Date Night
We recently went to Wish. Sharon particularly loved the prawn curry served in a coconut, and the decor was funky and modern.
Favorite Neighborhood
798 Art District. When we were living there, we enjoyed exploring the many eateries, coffee shops, and art galleries there.
Best Places to Shop
Sharon loves Yashow Market and H&M, while Elodie is building up an impressive collection of boots and shoes from all over the place. Sharon also buys winter clothes and thermals at Uniqlo.
