Lesley Delapaz was game for anything when she walked into Toni & Guy’s Hilton Beijing branch. The mom of two had last cut her thick, curly hair in December. Back in the US, Delapaz had it cut every six weeks and got a hot oil treatment every second month. However, maintenance became a challenge when she moved to Beijing a year and a half ago. Normally, Delapaz mixes a bit of baking soda into her shampoo to get rid of residue, uses a soft gel for daily control, and gets her hair trimmed whenever it gets too out of control. She was open to highlights, having not experimented with any color since university. We couldn’t believe our eyes when she was done with Salon Director Alex Dam and Makeup Artist Feng Jun!
Get the Look:
1. To play up Delapaz’ natural curls and maintain bounce, Dam trimmed her hair back on the sides and kept more volume on top. He then used Label M Soufflé by Toni & Guy to give definition to her ringlets.
2. For color, Dam combined copper red and honey blonde highlights by L’Oréale to liven up Delapaz’ look. After brushing on the highlights, he put shrink wrap over her head to retain heat.
3. At the makeup stage, Feng decided to emphasize Delapaz’ great eyes. She applied taupe Bobbi Brown eyeshadow and a purple shade from MAC Earthly Riches eyeshadow duo to her eyelids, then defined them with black gel eyeliner (also by Bobbi Brown).
On Delapaz’ bottom lids, Feng used Dior eyeliner pencil in Violet Intriguant. She also dabbed Make Up Forever’s Diamond Powder in the inner corner of the eyes and along the eyelids for sparkle. She finished off with two coats of Estée Lauder Zero Smudge Curling Mascara in 01.
On Delapaz’ face, Feng used Giorgio Armani compact foundation in 3.5, then mixed MAC’s Sheertone Blush in Pink Swoon and Shu Uemura’s blush duo for a rosy flush.
Finally, she blended Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited in 355 PK and Chanel Rouge Coco in Rose Dentelle for lip color.
