Air pollution’s been on everyone’s mind lately, what with Beijing posting the smoggiest March in 52 years and The New York Times reporting on the changing face of childhood in China. Beijing City International School is doing something about it. For the eighth annual BCIS Spring in the City fair, the school has embraced the theme of “renewal.” All proceeds from the event will benefit BCIS’ Clean Air Fund to purchase air purifiers for students.
BCIS Spring in the City takes place on Saturday, May 11 from 11am to 2pm. The event is open to all members of the Beijing community and includes:
- Performances by the Beijing Beatles
- Dance performances
- Staff and student performances
- Raffle draws
- Carnival-style games
- Vendors selling food, drinks, crafts, and more
The raffle prizes include two nights at a one-bedroom villa in Vietnam, brunch and buffet vouchers for five-star hotels, meal coupons for various restaurants in Beijing, Thai Airways plane tickets, vouchers for a two-day sailing course, hiking vouchers, sunglasses, themed raffle baskets put together by BCIS parents and staff members, and more.
