Kings from all over Beijing landed at EAST Hotel’s Xian Bar on Saturday, June 15 for a bash of kings at beijingkids’ Father’s Day King for a Day party. Parents and kids alike wore jeweled crowns and big smiles as families gathered for what amounted to a modern-day tourney: endless barbecue, competitions, and joyful fun.
Royal younglings made cards and crowns for their fathers, played on bouncy castles provided by Santa Fe, marked themselves with temporary tattoos, and had fun with bubbles. The whole family feasted on Xian’s delicious barbecue, parents enjoyed a bit of free-flow beer, and anyone who felt at all tense relaxed into the expert hands of masseuses and masseurs from Bodhi Therapeutic Retreat. VivaXiao immortalized the day, providing royal family portraits for all in attendance.
Families let out their competitive streak with the afternoon’s games; in the wife-carrying race, husbands hoisted their better halves onto their backs and dashed across the courtyard. In the three-legged race, fathers strapped themselves to their kin in a bid to both win the race and test the motor skills of all involved.
