Home Plate Bar-B-Que repeated as the Beijinger Burger Cup champions Saturday night, after winning in a sudden-death tiebreaker over this year’s dark horse, Plan B.
This 2013 Burger Cup culminated in the first the Beijinger Burger Festival, held at Beijing City International School and featuring a live cook-off between the Burger Cup’s eight finalists, determined after three rounds of reader voting, with on-site voting at the Burger Festival to choose the winner.
The on-site voting resulted in two ties, for first place between Home Plate Bar-B-Que and Plan B, and for third place between The Local and Great Leap Brewing. To break the tie, voting was re-opened for 15 minutes to allow any outstanding ballots to be cast. At the end of the tiebreaker, Home Plate had won, with Plan B finishing second, and The Local in third.
In addition to burgers and beer, Burger Festival attendees enjoyed performances by the Randy Abel Stable while parents watched as their little ones raced around freely enjoying the ample space as well as the inflated pools.
Congratulations to our winners, and thank you to all of the restaurants that participate, our sponsors for their support, the attendees who made the Burger Festival a success, and to all of our readers who voted in the Beijinger 2013 Burger Cup.
