Every child loves receiving a new toy. At Toys “R” Us, kids aged 1 to 12 will not be disappointed. The US-based chain has several locations in Beijing, and we visited the largest one in Joy City Chaoyang. Located just off Qingnian Lu station on Line 6, Toys “R” Us is easily accessible by public transit. Although Toys “R” Us’ Chinese counterpart lacks a video game section like in the US, the store has lots of other toys at reasonable prices. It features a one-floor show room with different sections such as “Babies ‘R’ Us,” “Girls’ Favorites,” “Boys, Action, and Adventure,” and “Family Fun and Games.” Toys “R” Us carries popular brands like Barbie, Lego, Hello Kitty, Disney, Bratz, and Marvel. Dolls, makeup kits, and princess dresses are popular with girls, while boys will like Hot Wheels, action figures, and Angry Birds games.
The store also sells a wide variety of stuffed animals ranging from RMB 199 to 250. If you really want to wow a little Disney fan, the five-foot tall Stitch stuffed doll might do the trick. For younger children, the Bullseye Rock and Roll Rocking Horse inspired by the Toy Story movies costs RMB 550 and art sets can be had for RMB 138 to 238. Moms and dads can also browse the selection of strollers starting at RMB 2,280. For finicky kids, Toys “R” Us has a table in the middle of the store where children can try out a toy before purchasing it.
