Geography and creativity often meet to create iconic fashion: Hawaiian shirts, Bermuda shorts, and the Brazilian bikini. Vogmask and Plastered 8 T-Shirts are now cooperating to take that one step further: the designer Beijing air pollution mask.
"We get a lot of our customers asking for cool masks so when Mike Murphy of IQ Air and Chris Dobbing of Vogmask approached us with this collaboration idea we loved it," said Dominic Johnson-Hill, founder of Plastered 8 T-Shirts. "We had full creative liberty to create something that wasn’t another crap smiley face or any of those other terrible designs you see about town. We love to see our designs on other cool products, and this product is as quintessentially Beijing as Plastered is," he added.
These aren’t just pretty pieces of cotton gauze, either. "Certified with an N99 rating, Vogmasks filter out 99.978 percent of PM2.5 air pollution. Vogmask carries four unique sizes for infants, children, teens and adults, in addition to an optional exhalation valve for more active users," said Murphy. IQ Air China has distribution rights for Vogmask in China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. "Collaborating with Dominic and the Plastered 8 team meant that we had access to some of the most trend-setting and iconic designs in China’s urban-wear market," he said.
The masks come in four Plastered designs, with both adult and children’s sizes, and should be available starting December 12, said Vogmask China’s Dobbing.
