As winter draws in and the kids start looking for a new indoor sport to see them through the coldest months, here’s one they might not have considered – ultimate Frisbee. For the first time (that we’re aware of), kids can now join coaching sessions in the increasingly-popular sport here in Beijing.
The program, run by Sports Beijing, will use drills and mini-games to teach kids the basics of effective (and high-speed) throwing and catching, as well as an awareness of strategy and spacing. Open to beginners and more experienced players alike, the training sessions take place indoors in the sports dome at International School of Beijing (ISB).
Head coach Alicia Lui, has 9 years of experience playing and coaching ultimate Frisbee. Although the first session took place this morning, she told beijingkids that it’s not too late to join.
The 8-week course costs RMB 800 per child register and you can register your interest at Sports Beijing’s Ultimate Frisbee page. Suitable for ages 7-14.
