IB Diploma the way to go for Students in Beijing International Schools

The International Baccalaureate(IB) Diploma is the number one globally-recognised graduate qualification for international students and increasingly more countries are turning to this qualification as the standard for international study.

Recent commentary in international press has highlighted the IB Diploma as a fast-growing choice of qualification for students, in particular because of the way it better prepares students for the rigours of university study.

The British School of Beijing, Shunyi (BSB)is now offering the IB Diploma as its graduate qualification in the 2014/2015 school year, making the transition from A-Levels. The School will still maintain its English National Curriculum throughout the rest of the school.

School Principal Mr Andy Puttock said BSB’s new IB Diploma programme was about giving students enough scope to pursue their careers and dreams.

Students select 6 subjects to study over the two-year programme and must also complete the Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and Creativity, Service, Action (CAS) requirements.

Ms Carol Pratt, BSB’s IB Diploma Leader, has worked in two other IB World Schools, but said BSB’s wide subject offering, coupled with preparation from the English National Curriculum, was the best grounding she has seen for academic success in the IB Diploma programme.
