WildAid is organizing "The Wild Walk: Family Edition," a 5km family walk on Saturday, April 26 to raise awareness of the illegal wildlife trade. For those who are familiar with the annual Beijing International Mountain Walking Festival, this event is an extension.
WildAid is an international non-profit organization who promotes that “when the buying stops, the killing can too." Its mission is to protect endangered animals by ending the illegal wildlife trade.
The organization aims to attract at least 1,000 families, both local and international, to join in the one-day event. This will also be a good opportunity to enjoy the warm spring weather along the Yongding River.
To celebrate the beauty of wild animals, one element of each participating child’s outfit must evoke a wild animal; it can be face painting, a pattern, or whatever else they can think of.
The first five families to reach the finish line will win a WildAid t-shirt, water bottle, and admission ticket to Mentougou attractions.
Registration is free for children, and RMB 100 for adults. The price includes an event t-shirt, hat, and insurance.
Here’s how to sign up:
Step 1: Download the registration form on WildAid China’s website. Deadline for signing up is Friday, April 18.
Step 2: Send the completed form to china@wildaid.org with the subject line “The Wild Walk Registration Form."
Step 3: Visit the WildAid China office on April 19 or 20 before 4.30pm to pay the registration fee and pick up a number and welcome pack. The registration is only successful after the form has been signed and the non-refundable registration fee has been paid.
There will be a free shuttle bus at Pingguoyuan subway (Line 1) to take all participating families to the venue. Driving directions are also available.
