Started as a family-orientated community event last year, the Shuangjing Block Party and Chili Cook-Off returns this year on Saturday (Apr 26) with more fun for both children and adults. Once again, Roots & Shoots will be the charity partner, which means all the money your family spends on the day will be used for a good cause.
Organizer Plan B, popular bar and grill at Shaungjing, promises more food and drink options this year. Besides tasting free samples from the chili cook-off, you can expect fine craft beer from local brewers Tiger, Jing A and Slowboat, and a variety of food ranging from BBQ, burgers, hotdogs, Japanese to Mexican food.
Like last year, there will be bouncy castles, balloons and face painting to keep the little ones busy and entertained while you enjoy the beer. There will also be singers, dancers and a DJ to liven things up.
Entrance is free. Make sure to arrive early for the hot and scrumptious chili. There are more than ten contestants, who will each bring at least ten pounds of chili. But how long will it take for 1,000 people to finish it all?
