Mark your calendars because this Saturday, May 10, Beijing City International School (BCIS) will hold its ninth annual Spring in the City fair from 11am to 3pm. This year, the popular fair is appropriately themed “flourish,” celebrating BCIS accomplishments; including the continuing expansion of BCIS, successes of current students and graduates, as well as the achievements of the school in helping the Beijing community.
The fair will have food, drinks, a raffle, dance and musical performances by students and staff and a host of carnival games for the kids. Among the raffle prizes are a chance to win champagne brunches, toys, restaurant vouchers, and airline tickets.
Notably, many of the activities are organized by students and linked to the things they have been learning at school which means many activities are shaping up to be family-friendly as well as educational. Vendors will also be on hand selling food and drinks though purchases can only be made using City Money as the sole form of currency for the event. One City Money bill represents RMB 5 and can be purchased the day of the event or bought ahead.
As mentioned, among BCIS’ chief successes this year is the opening of their Early Childhood Center, which represents a lasting commitment to the school’s goal’s of sustainability, as seen by the many green features of the facility itself. Other reasons to celebrate include college acceptances to prestigious schools abroad and the Grade 10 “Personal Project” exhibition.
Families, friends, and colleagues are invited to attend this free event. Please note that due to new measures taken by BCIS and the Chaoyang Government, friends not currently part of the BCIS community will need to bring ID to gain entrance to the campus (Chinese ID card, passport photocopy etc).
