Beijing Playhouse will hold auditions for their Christmas the musical comedy Robin Hood, this September. In total 100 cast and crew members are needed; with so many slots available, there’s never been a better time to audition – you’re almost certain of a chance to participate! Beijing Playhouse intends to give this classic fairy tale the traditional British panto treatment; plenty of booing and hissing, screwball plot twists, and sing-a-long happy tunes.
Auditions take place Sunday, September 21, 2014 and Monday, September 22, 2014 at 6:30 pm. Both auditions and rehearsals for Robin Hood will be held at The British School of Beijng in Sanlitun. While call-backs and performances will be held at National Olympic Sports Center Theatre near the Bird’s Nest.
Auditions are open to one and all, and while experienced actors are encouraged, everyone is welcome to try out. The only requirement is that participants be able to perform in English. Interested actors are requested to complete the Actor Audition Form in advance. (Available through the email address below).
There are a whopping 30 cast member parts available; 24 adult and six child roles:
- 3 boys, age 6-17
- 12 men, age 18-60
- 2 men, age 60-80
- 3 girls, age 6-17
- 8 women, age 18-60
- 2 women, age 60-80
At the audition actors read from the script, perform scenes from the show with other actors, and be given a song to sing. While monologues are not required, non-native English speakers are strongly advised to prepare a memorized 60 second English monologue.
Robin Hood will be performed weekday and Saturday evenings and weekend matinees, December 5-21, 2014, while rehearsals will be evenings at 6:30 pm and Sundays at 2:30 pm in October and November.
