In conjunction with the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) exhibition “Los Angeles Project,” UCCA Creative Studio will offer two months of bilingual and family-friendly art events and programs. In September, UCCA will dedicate its entire space to an anthology of seven contemporary artists living and working in Los Angeles – one of the most recognized cities for artists in North America. The exhibition will be the first showing in China for most of the artists as well as the first time art from Los Angeles has been comprehensively presented in the region. All exhibitions will take place at UCCA Creative Studio. See below for a description about the upcoming events.
What: Welcome, Los Angeles! Family day for the UCCA exhibition “Los Angeles Project”
When: Sunday, September 14
Description: This day is dedicated to children and families who are curious about “The Los Angeles Project.” Children will create three dimensional artworks inspired by works of exhibiting artist Aaron Curry and will be guided by the art teachers at the Creative Studio. Introductory talks and dedicated family exhibition tours will help young visitors understand the concepts behind the different artworks.

What: “Silver River”
When: Sunday, September 14-Sunday to 9 Nov 2014
Description: “Silver River” is the first interactive installation exclusively created for young visitors at UCCA Creative Studio. Developed by two of the studio’s artist-teachers, Rose Wong and Jairus Yang, the installation is composed of large metallic structures representing a galactic stream. Children are invited to create an image of their future selves and add it to the Silver River. Snacks and Refreshments will be provided.

What:“Los Angeles Project” Weekend Workshops
When: Saturdays and Sundays, beginning Saturday, September 20 and ending Sunday, November 9
Description: During the exhibition period of “Los Angeles Project,” kids and families are invited to join a weekend workshop that explains the concepts and techniques of the exhibited artworks. Families can create their own masterpieces while learning about contemporary art ideas reflected in “The Los Angeles Project.”
