As the kids return to school, for the final term of the academic year, it’s time to sign them up for some after school and weekend activities. Registrations have opened for the summer term, and there are plenty of activities and programs for kids of all ages and interests. It’s a busy time of year for Roundabout, as they gear up for another of their big book fairs. Volunteers are needed, so please do sign up if you can spare just a few hours. Save the date for their open day on May 9, where you can meet some of the charities that have received such valuable support through the work of Roundabout.
Girl Scouts Collection Drive
On Saturday, April 11 the Girl Scouts Troops 11 and 89 will be collecting donations for Roundabout. From 9am-noon, they will come by houses in River Garden and parts of Capital Paradise. If you are interested in donating, please put your donations by your door and clearly mark them for Roundabout. Right now, Roundabout is in desperate need of more clothes in good, clean condition, books, baby equipment, and kitchenware. Charity Book Fair
On Saturday, April 18 and Monday 20 – Wednesday April 22, Roundabout will be holding a book fair at Dulwich College Beijing (DCB) Legend Garden Campus. From 10am-3.30pm you’ll be able to browse and buy hundreds of gently used books, for all the family. All proceeds will be used to help a child in need. Volunteers are needed on Friday, April 17 from 9am-1pm to help set up the fair, to help at the book fair itself there are two shifts 9.45am-12.30pm, or 12.15-3pm, and volunteers will be needed to help pack up the books on Thursday, April 23 from 9am-noon. Charity Open Day
On Saturday, May 9 from 10am-4pm, Roundabout will be holding a charity open day at their store. Come along and meet some of the charities that you support. There will be refreshments available to buy and activities to keep the kids entertained. Save the date.
Dulwich Summer Term Activities
Registration is now open for the Dulwich Community Programme (DCP) summer term activities. There are a number of exciting programs, including some brand new activities, to keep the kids busy this summer term. Activities take place at Dulwich College Beijing (DCB) Legend Garden and Riviera Campuses. Programs include girls football, tennis, mandarin club, ballet, football, swimming, basketball, science club, in-line skating, taekwondo, golf, hockey, kung fu, Chinese cooking, and music. beijingkids Shunyi Correspondent Sally Wilson moved to Beijing in 2010 from the UK with her husband and son. Her daughter was born here in 2011 and both her kids keep her happily busy. In her spare time, Sally loves to stroll through Beijing’s hutongs and parks. She is a (most of the time) keen runner and loves reading: books, magazines, news, and celeb websites – anything really. Sally is also a bit of a foodie and loves trying out new restaurants.
