Friends and entrepreneurs Erin Henshaw and Brittany Dunn know a thing or two about staying healthy. Since mid-June, they have been leading Mind Body Fitness Retreats to help "real people" form healthy habits. The retreats are family-friendly and suitable for ages 12 and up.
Henshaw is a certified yoga teacher, mindfulness and meditation enthusiast, tea lover, and the former corporate events manager of The Hutong. Dunn is a Heyrobics instructor, fitness coach, and drama teacher.
The program leads participants through a variety of health and fitness activities such as yoga, Pilates, running technique training, strength training, DIY herbal tonic workshops, and TCM-inspired food tastings and talks.
Though there’s a list of activities, Henshaw and Dunn follow a "go with the flow" approach and aim to foster a body-positive environment.
Meals are made with organic produce grown on E-West Club’s farm and participants will get a chance to splash around in the venue’s great pool.
The next Mind Body Fitness Retreats will run on August 28-30 and September 4-6. They usually span Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, but those who are pressed for time can also join Saturday-only sessions.
The retreats cost RMB 2,400-3,000 for the full package depending on accommodation type or RMB 800 for Saturday-only sessions. The price includes transportation to and from downtown Beijing, three meals a day, all programming, and accommodation. Each session is limited to 20 people.
Retreats are held at the E-West Club, a cultural center and events venue located in Tongzhou District, around 40 minutes from the CBD.
Henshaw and Dunn are also organizing a Sanya Retreat for the upcoming October holidays on October 3-6. The trip costs RMB 5,000-6,000 depending on accommodation, including flights, three meals per day, and all programming.
Kids aged 12-18 get a 50 percent discount on all programs.
