The International Montessori School of Beijing (MSB) is hosting orientation day on Thursday, August 20 at 1pm, where teachers and staff will welcome new and returning families. Term starts on Friday, August 21.
Dulwich College Beijing (DCB) is hosting a Welcome Back BBQ on Friday, August 21 from 5-7pm at their Legend Garden Campus. Term starts on Monday, August 17.
Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) is hosting a community picnic on Saturday, August 29 from 3pm. House of Knowledge (HoK), Quanfa is hosting a Community BBQ, for students, their families, faculty and staff. Bring along something to share – "Pot Luck" and HoK will provide the BBQ and refreshments. The event takes place on Saturday, August 29 from 11am-1pm. Term starts on Wednesday, August 26.
The British School of Beijing (BSB), Shunyi is hosting a picnic for the BSB community on Sunday, August 30 from 12-3pm. Whether you are a parent of returning students, or a new family to the school, bring a blanket and enjoy plenty of food, drinks, and a bouncy castle for the kids. International School of Beijing (ISB) students are already back at school, their Autumn term started last week. For Harrow International School of Beijing (HISB) term starts on Wednesday, August 19, and Daystar Academy on Monday, August 31.
Toddler Art Class
Atelier’s most popular toddler class is coming to Shunyi, bringing kid’s wonderful and practical pre-school guidance, which will inspire their artistic talents. Led by Atelier teacher Alice, and taught in Chinese, students will be able to experiment with different mediums, learn how to draw basic shapes and recognize colors, numbers, letters, and Chinese characters. Toddlers are in the period where their creativity developed rapidly, if guided correctly. Besides art, the cognition education is an important part of the class. Children make friends, learn to share and care for each other, which helps prepare them for kindergarten. The classes will run 10-11.30am Monday to Friday, starting August 31. River Garden Fitness Classes
Choose from a variety of morning fitness classes, all starting at 8.45am. Held in the basement of River Garden Clubhouse, the weekday classes will begin August 10, Saturday classes from September 12.

ClubFootball Pre-Season Clinics
Designed to get players ‘match-sharp’ for the coming season, the clinics will be run from 9am-4pm at Beijing Riviera (on the DCB pitches) on Saturday August 15 and at ISB on Saturday August 29. Students from all schools are welcome, and players born between 2001 and 2007 can take part. Sessions are led by ClubFootball’s FA/UEFA qualified coach’s, each three hour block is divided into warm-up, technical training session, and a controlled match-play practice. The sessions are open to the more advanced player, and are not suitable for beginners. Players looking to compete in school or amateur teams this Autumn are particularly recommended to attend. Instruction is in English only. Students are required to bring their own packed lunch. RMB 600 for the day with advance payment, or RMB 700 on the day. beijingkids Shunyi Correspondent Sally Wilson moved to Beijing in 2010 from the UK with her husband and son. Her daughter was born here in 2011 and both her kids keep her happily busy. In her spare time, Sally loves to stroll through Beijing’s hutongs and parks. She is a (most of the time) keen runner and loves reading: books, magazines, news, and celeb websites – anything really. Sally is also a bit of a foodie and loves trying out new restaurants.
