If you have yet to see the yellow-red deco at Taikoo Li’s The Orange, you’re missing out! McDonald’s is currently hosting a Happy Meal toy exhibition featuring 2,500 of our favorites in honor of 25 years in China! We were alerted that it is a children’s event, so after work I took my 1.8 year old (meet Jax) to check it out!
First, we waited in line to enter the exhibit. Each person is given a card to stamp at a total of three stations (for a prize!).
Once in the yellow toy factory, my son spent a good amount of time viewing all the different toys at his eye level. Note: This could take a while, there are 2,500 toys on display!
He mischievously tried to push down the domed toys that were popping up and down (if only it were whack-a-mole…). Note: Don’t try this or risk angering the staff.
There’s a conveyor belt (with Naruto and Spongebob Squarepants plushies) that kept him mesmerized for quite some time.
Although he was too preoccupied with toys to get the first two stamps, we managed to coax him into handing the card over for the last one.
The giant Happy Meal box is a ball play area, but unfortunately our Jax is too short to enter (kids must be 100cm or taller). Instead, he longingly watched a little girl “splash” inside, while a staff member bounced balls off the walls to keep him entertained.
While he was preoccupied with the playroom, his daddy was lined up with our stamped cards. You scan a QR code to follow McDonald’s on WeChat, then have a chance to grab a toy with one of three claw machines!
We got one Happy Meal toy, and Jax was a happy camper! Overall, an interesting experience at Taikoo Li’s The Orange!
McDonald’s 25 Year Exhibition is held from March 24 till April 5, from 10:30am to 9:30pm at The Orange, Taikoo Li Sanlitun. Taikooli Orange is right in front of the water works area, adjacent to the Apple store.
