Horse riding is a fun and fascinating sport that will benefit people beyond simple enjoyment, but also physically, mentally, and emotionally. Demeanor Equestrian is a famous horse riding club in Beijing which provides six outdoor riding and training arenas, including three VT-TEX ones. (VT-TEX is a special kind of material which stands out because of its durability, and immobility. This material can also balance water retentiveness and drainage well.
Demeanor Equestrian not only attracts horse lovers from all over Beijing but also from other countries and embassies. Although the club has been open for 15 years, the current manager took over in March 2015 and has substantially reconstructed it.
The club follows the English standard teaching course with many different skills like jumping over obstacles and dancing steps. For beginners, the coaches will teach them the English riding posture, balance, pace and rhythm, and different body languages and signals for horses called aids. There are 65 horses of five different types in the club, including warmblood horses, thoroughbreds, half-breds, domestic horses, and ponies. The imported horses mainly come from France, Belgium and Netherlands. Higher-level riders will usually buy or rent their own horses and keep them in the club’s stable.
The domestic ones cost around 30 to 50 thousand; half-breds cost 50 to 100 thousand; the thoroughbreds and ponies have the same price of 100 to 200 thousand while warmblood horses cost 300 to 500 thousand. The coaches are Chinese, but the club often invites foreign coaches to give training lessons for professional development purposes.
Eighty percent of the students who come to the club are children and teenagers aged 3 to 20. Most children will come on Saturdays and Sundays because of school. Classes are usually one on one but higher level riders can have group lessons. The prices for the beginner classes will be 300 to 400 per class while higher level classes will cost 600-1000 per class.
Discounts are available for club members and during holidays or special celebrations. The club may also give out small gifts like riding equipment and extra lessons. But please note that there won’t be any discounts higher than 10 percent.
