Beijing Design Week, from September 29 to October 6, seems cool, but it might just be another event parents of young children opt to pass on as we doubt whether our toddlers and primary school aged kids can get excited over carbon-made jewelry (even if there is a tower that sucks in pollution involved) and Korean Smart City design.
Kids Design Week
However, upon closer inspection, we discovered that they have parent and kid workshops all week long (starting Thursday September 29)! The workshops are part of Kids Design Week (Beijing), with the theme “Design for Love”, and occur daily from 4:30-6pm until next Thursday (October 6). Here’s what you can still make:
Friday Sep 30 – Megatrends: Digital/analog games and video games
Saturday Oct 1 – Positive Discipline
Sunday Oct 2 – Empathy and Compassion
Monday Oct 3 – Education for All
Tuesday Oct 4 – Design & Creative Thinking
Wednesday Oct 5 – 21st Century Skills
Thursday Oct 6 – Art Space for Kids

Travel Tip: 798 is a tourist attraction, so its surrounding areas will likely be busy. Instead, take Subway Line 14 to Jiangtai Station, exit A and cross the street. It’s a couple of minutes walk to 798, and a few more minutes once you’re in to find 751.
