What is it?
The Melbourne Cup is affectionately known as “The Race that Stops a Nation!”
For horse racing enthusiasts it is one of the most prestigious horse races in the world. But, for most Australians, the horse racing comes a distant second to the fashion, fun and food on “Cup Day”.
The ANZA Melbourne Cup Luncheon brings together all these traditions for a fantastic day of laughter and excitement for everyone. There are chances to win big on the horse racing and in the raffles, enjoy good food and wine and ultimately support our local charities in the process.
Did we mention the fashion! November is Spring Racing Carnival time in Melbourne, where celebrities fly in from around the world and the latest fashions take centre stage, particularly the tradition of wearing a gorgeous hat to the races. So, ladies, come wearing your lovely race daywear, matched of course with a beautiful hat or fascinator!
It’s also the gentlemen’s time to dress to impress and we welcome the men to put on their finest (and a hat if they wish) and join in the fun.

The Melbourne Cup is always held on the first Tuesday in November. We will be watching the race live from the big television screens at our venue, the Westin Beijing Chaoyang.
Our event begins and 10am and finishes…well, that’s up to you and your friends! It may be a workday, but schedule a day off. Most of Australia does and you won’t regret it!
Who can get tickets?
Everybody is of course welcome, but discounted tickets will be available to our ANZA members, so consider signing up to ANZA to enjoy this and other member’s benefits over the year. Membership costs RMB150

Enjoy a three-course meal in the Westin Chaoyang’s ballroom, with all the bubbles, wine and beer included, plus the chance to participate in and win prizes in our Fashions on the Field competition, the Horse Auction (yes, remember there is a horse race), and our amazing raffle thanks to our generous sponsors.
