Panlongshan Great Wall of Gubeikou Hike, Mar 5
Ages 9+ This section of the Great Wall is built along the Yan Mountains, and the Chao River, where the town of Gubeikou is, divides it into two distinct parts. It was originally named “beikou,” which literally means “Northern Pass”, “gu” (ancient) was only added by later generations. It protected ancient China from Mongol/Manchu invasion from the north. Ages 9+ On this 13km hike, Beijing Hikers will hike sections of two good Changping trails by visiting what remains of two valley villages that were abandoned as a quarry expanded.
