I still vividly remember the first time I watched an Improv show in Beijing (poor me, that was 8 months ago!). It was a good dose of laughter that extended even after the show finished. The actors’ funny antics, plus the quick, witty, and hilarious jokes made me long for more.
I have been a regular patron of Beijing Improv and the last time I watched a show, I was with a group of friends. The couple in the group brought their young boy who couldn’t stop laughing during one of the skits in the show titled, “My Movie, My Movie, My Movie.” The young boy yelled that line the entire skit! When we had dinner after the show, all of us in the group found ourselves doing the skit as well!
The geniuses in Beijing Improv must have heard our boisterous laughter because they have decided to put on a family-friendly show next month! So don’t just catch Easter bunnies or hunt for Easter eggs this April! Mark your calendars for April 2 to watch “MINDS AT PLAY Presents: Easter Improv for the Whole Family.”
Bring your kids, bring your grandparents, bring your in-laws, and why not bring that long lost relative you recently found! Minds at Play’s international troupe of actors is performing an Easter-themed, bilingual improv show for the whole family. It gets better, after the show we will have a workshop for kids 6 and older that teaches them how to do the things they just saw on stage. Improv is an exciting style of theater that teaches creativity, teamwork and in the moment connection. Come and enjoy us for a morning of silly, wacky and kid-friendly fun.
Veteran Beijing Improv actor and after-school theater teacher Nathan Paul will be hosting the show. Paul moved to Beijing in 2013 to explore a new arena to create, perform, and teach acting. Paul graduated with a BA in Theater from Columbia College in the US and went on to become a founding member of “The Silent Theatre Company.” He has been a recurring character on the children’s program in the US “Green Screen Adventures,” where he had his first connection to producing content for children.
