An Italian theater company will be walking in the footsteps of pandas as it explores China’s culture and history.
Panda’s Home is an interactive performance aimed at children aged four and up. Two dancers will lead them in the panda’s footsteps on a journey during which they will encounter a bamboo forest, fireworks, kites, and a white tiger, before arriving at the Great Wall. It’s also a journey through the Wuxing, the traditional five elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water. The performance uses not only dance, but sound, light, and an interactive environment to create a magical atmosphere.
TPO, which created Panda’s Home, is an award-winning company that has been making theater for children and adults since 1981. They premiered the show in their hometown of Prato, Italy, late last year, then took it to France and Sweden. Now the show is coming to its spiritual home, Beijing. Francesco Gandi, TPO’s Artistic Director, said “For us the true premiere will be the one that we will present in Beijing. We look forward to confronting a Chinese audience.”
Performances will take place at the China Millennium Monument Theater from March 24 to April 2, and last around 50 minutes. Tickets cost RMB 280 and are available from https://en.damai.cn/event/tickets_116042/
