Sometimes finding an appropriate school in China, even in Beijing, can be tough, knowing your child more than likely will need some sort of support at some point in their education journey. Most children do need additional support, whether due to stress or something more significant. Whether your child has special education needs (SEN), or simply additional education needs (AEN), it’s comforting to know that the extra support she needs is available at her own school. The types of situations where a student would need more support due to learning hurdles has a farther breadth than learning or physical disabilities.
In Australia, for example, students will receive adaptations if students fall into any of the following categories

As you can see, circumstances and stress can bring challenges, as also can giftedness. No child learns the exact same way as her peer, and every child deserves an education that has been adapted for him to succeed.

My hat goes off to all of these school who offer extra assistance to students in need. However, your list is not comprehensive of all the international schools that offer these types of service. How do select the schools that is often referred to when you give information?
Hi Freda, good question. In our School Choice Guide, we asked schools who participated to tell us if they provide extra help to students. About 80 schools participated in the 2017 School Choice Guide. The other way we find out is by word of mouth through Education-based Beijing groups. Is there a school you know provides extra help but you didn’t see on this list?
