A stay-at-home dad has become an internet sensation with the dresses and costumes he has made for his five year old daughter. What’s On Weibo reports that Qian Xiaofeng from Shanghai has been posting pictures of his daughter wearing his creations for a year. At first he designed the dresses and accessories then had them made by a tailor friend, but later he learned to sew and started making them himself.
Qian wanted to be an artist as a child, but instead studied International Business to please his parents. When he and his wife had their first child, they agreed that he would stay home to look after her. He began by designing pieces of jewelry for her, then graduated to full costumes.
Qian’s designs are not currently available commercially, although he hopes to develop his passion into a business eventually. For now, he told Sohu.com, he is grateful to his wife and his daughter for allowing him to return to “the right path.”
“Everything I’ve done till now was for my daughter,” he said, “in order to give her a fairy-tale childhood. Now I’m creating a brand as a gift for my daughter. I am happy that my career is related to those I love.”
